39 Women in Marketing Perfect for Your Next Virtual Event
My goal is to be a Chief Marketing Officer.
But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disheartened to learn that, according to Grant Thornton’s 2020 Women in Business report, only 17% of CMOs are women leaders.
According to the same report, believe it or not there is still a gender bias across all senior roles.
When I first read this, I thought, wow, what are the chances that I will be part of the 17%? And I know my fellow female marketing peers would also be left in low spirits once they discovered this statistic. As the future leaders of our revenue-driving teams, how do we reach our career goals knowing the tide is against us?
Accepting the status quo is explained by the theory of system justification. The main notion is that people are motivated to rationalize the status quo as final, and we do this as humans because it softens the blow of cold hard reality. If the world is supposed to be this way, then we do not need to spend time being upset with it.
Instead of sitting back and accepting current circumstances, we all know to be the best leaders and marketers, we need to put our creative thinking hats on to find the better option that does exist. So where do we start?
What we can do is look to those 17% of female marketing leaders to pave the way for us. We look to them to understand why this default exists and then come together with a fresh perspective on how to tackle the lack of women in CMO positions worldwide.
So, we put together a list of 39 incredible boss ladies (in no particular order) that you should seek out to hear speak or have them speak at your own events.
You also don’t need to look too far, as you can hear nine of these following names (marked by an asterisk below) speak at Out of the Box on September 17.
